- He was a native of Montgomery County, attended First Wesleyan
Church, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a licensed pyrotechnician
who was in charge of fireworks displays in Troy and worked with
the Special Forces in Fort Bragg.

Howard Russell Scarboro of Concord; daughter, Candace Ellen Scarboro
of Concord; stepson, Roger Hogan of Hope Mills; stepdaughters,
